Post 7: My Indignation
The past semester I and my friend took a course of "Comunicación y genero", although we entered after of rest of class, because Fau began its semester after other faculties of University of Chile.
I think this course taught me to see the news from other perspective and notice forms in that mass media control the information that present of society, often the female figure in femicide has become invisible, treating the woman as an object without giving it an identity. But the thing that most impressed me is how show the LGBT+ community in TV, I was more aware about this issue because my friend belongs to the LGBT+ community and she spoke of me about LGBT+ figure in TV programs and their stereotypes.
I fell outraged at how stereotypes is created in people's heads, which ultimately does not them see the reality that person lives in LGBT+ community. I believe that stereotypes condition the life of anyone who is not heterosexual, just because there being gay makes you less a man or being a lesbian less a woman.
My personal opinion is that not import to which your love and much less his gender, besides I think that is very stupid that persons worry about gender we like, when there are real problems and people who suffer every day. Homophobia also causes pain an fear in people who don't feel secure about their own preferences.
That you like your gender isn't a desease. I already lost the account how times my sister and I have fought for homophobic issues, behaviors and comment with my parents. If any of my brothers tell me that he or she is gay or lesbian, I hope to support them with everything I have. In the end, everyone is free to love whoever wishes, I believe that love transcends things as simple as gender.

"I believe that love transcends things as simple as gender." Is so sad thinking about people not being able to understand something simple as that.
ReplyDeleteI believe that it's more than "love is love" because the thing is not always love, just let the people live they life and do whatever they want.
ReplyDeleteWith all the information there is today, people of our age who are homophobic are simply "sacowea"
ReplyDeleteLong live the freedom to love!
